Hip replacement surgery is a procedure that involves removing parts of a damaged or injured hip joint, and replacing them with a prosthesis made of plastic, metal and ceramic. Conditions that may lead an individual to have a hip replacement surgery include rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, traumatic arthritis, and osteonecrosis. The procedure is done under local or general anaesthesia and can take up to 3 hours depending on the severity of the damage to the hip joint.
At King's our UK & Canadian Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeons have decades of experience performing hip replacement procedures, and have conducted thousands of total hip replacement surgeries with exceptional long term patient satisfaction.
